Good news hits Black Sherif and his camp

A complaint launched against Ghanaian singer Black Sherif by Cruise People Ltd was rejected by an Accra High Court.

The singer was accused of violating an agreement, which resulted in the postponement of a performance dubbed ‘Afro Cruise Jam,’ which was due to take place in Athens, Greece, in August 2023.

Cruise People stated that the cancellation caused them financial losses and demanded compensation from Black Sherif.

In response, Black Sherif’s legal team claimed that the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter since the performance contract required any legal procedures to take place in the United Kingdom.

Despite Cruise People’s insistence that the court had jurisdiction since both parties were Ghanaians doing business in Ghana, the court, presided over by Judge Mariama Sammo, ruled with Black Sherif’s attorneys.

The court made it clear that none of the addresses mentioned by the party hiring the artist were in Ghana. As a consequence, the court had no choice but to dismiss the case against the renowned musician.

Black Sherif wins court case over lawsuit by Cruise People Ltd for allegedly breaching performance contract

Background:

Cruise People Limited sued Ghanaian artist Black Sherif for contractual issues months ago.

The High Court petition alleged Black Sherif breached his word by canceling the highly anticipated Afro Cruise Jam performance in Greece.

To hire Black Sherif for the cruise event, Cruise People Limited paid half of his $20,000 booking fee. He was to shoot a video confirming his presence.

The artist allegedly failed to meet this requirement, canceling the trip and spending $18,000 on cruise ship cabin arrangements.

Black Sherif was vital to attracting attendance; thus the event’s planners worried about his absence.

Cruise People Limited sued for basic agreement violations. The case demands $20,000 for bookings and $18,000 for missing cabin bookings.

The company demands interest on the $20,000 from April 18, 2023, until the ultimate payment. Cruise People Limited wants $50,000 from the contract breach.
