Meidkal and Storngman beef: All you need to know
On June 21, 2019, Medikal dropped a rap track titled ‘To Whom It May Concern’, which was widely interpreted as a diss towards Strongman. This was in response to Strongman’s appearance on Adom FM’s Kasahari show, where he called out Medikal for claiming to have saved rap in Ghana’s music industry.
Strongman expressed his confusion over not being nominated for ‘Best Rapper of the Year’ at the Vodafone Ghana Awards, despite releasing his STN EP, which he believed would have secured him the title over Medikal.
Additionally, Strongman reminded Medikal that he had been in the industry for a longer period of time and urged him to stop boasting.
Medikal, not one to back down, retaliated through his song by verbally attacking Strongman and demanding that he establish a clear boundary between them.
Medikal’s song went on to address many instances in Strongman’s career including his exit from Sarkodie’s Sarkcess Label.
“Don’t let your followers deceive you.., I save the game for four years… if you don’t understand burn the sea. [You claim] Hot MC but you support your team from the bench…One award and you don’t let me sleep. I don’t want your beef… my girlfriend has hit songs than you,” some of Medikal’s lyrics read.
The release of Strongman’s ‘Don’t Try’ song on June 22, 2019, made it evident through its lyrics that Medikal didn’t need any divine intervention to be called out. The former Sarkcess rapper confidently referred to himself as a seasoned veteran in the rap industry, while also asserting that Medikal’s success was largely attributed to the controversies he deliberately stirred up to maintain relevance.
“Over seven years in the game… rap is my calling… controversies gave you hits and the women helped you… your rap is weak, let me show you high grade,” some parts of his lyrics pointed out.
