Nigerian chef and former Guinness world record holder for marathon cooking, Hilda Baci has angered Ghanaians following his ‘Nigerian men are better than Ghanaian men’ comment.
Following this controversial comment, Ghanaian journalist Nana Aba Anamoah has reacted. Baci made the comment during a podcast interview with some UK-based Ghanaian men. She sang praises to Nigerian men and said if Nigerian men were brought to Ghana, Ghanaian men would not get wives, as Ghanaian women are bound to choose Nigerian men over them.
According to her, even though Ghanaian women desire to marry Nigerian men, they ultimately have to choose their own men to settle down with.
She said, “Ask 20 Ghanaian women if they will marry Ghanaian men. Put Nigerian men and Ghanaian men side by side and see who they will pick. Ghanaian women marry Ghanaians because that is at their forefront. When we send some Nigerian men to Ghana, the men over there won’t get wives.”
The interview has since gone viral and stirred massive debate on X. Ghanaians are equally not happy with her comments as many have bashed her on the social media platform. One user wrote, “Nigerian men in Ghana are fixing phones masa.. Go to Circle and see.” Another user also wrote, “Ghana man knack am free then served her breakfast. She seems pained, she needs to heal.”
During that same interview, she again made another controversial comment that Ghanaian jollof lacks flavour. She gave a lot of accolades to Nigerian jollof and demeaned Ghanaian jollof. Ghanaian users on X bashed her again for this.
Someone wrote, ” Ghana Jollof Has No Flavour- Chef Hilda Baci. Someone helped me educate her that her records in the Big Book weren’t the best chef so she should know her place. Nigeria Jollof that tastes like Gravel”.
Another wrote, “Is she the best cook record breaker or longest cooking record breaker? Cos I’m confused”.
In response to the report shared by Graphic on Twitter, Nana Aba Anamoah expressed her disdain over the comment by simply chuckling and writing, “Mtchewww.”

Hilda Baci Jollof controversy explored
Aside from the foregoing that got Hilda Baci in trouble, Hilda caused tension when she said Jollof from Nigeria is better than Jollof from Ghana.
Hilda Baci said in a recent podcast that she has tried Ghanaian Jollof and can say that it doesn’t taste as good as Nigerian Jollof. Hilda Baci says she has seen pictures and recipes of Ghanaian jollof and can confirm that the people of Ghana make different kinds of Jollof, such as “Tolo beef” Jollof.
After consuming the best Ghanaian jollof prepared by a Ghanaian cook, she claims that Nigerian jollof is superior.
She also said that she competed with a Ghanaian cook and that she was sure that her jollof was better than his.
