A Ghanaian mechanic was dealt a severe setback when his attempt to emigrate to Canada in pursuit of better opportunities was unsuccessful.
During an interview, the visibly depressed man explained that everything transpired after a Facebook post by a longtime acquaintance operating as an agent informed him that he was in Canada and invited him to join him there because life was bright.
Unbeknownst to the young man, his pursuit of improved circumstances propelled him to sell his two (2) vehicles, transfer $3,000 Canadian (equivalent to GH30,000), and travel to Ivory Coast, where he was assured of an interview that would ultimately facilitate his entry into the nation of his dreams.
He received the most devastating discovery of his life upon his return to Ivory Coast: his comrade had deceived him.
“When I arrived there, my friend, who claimed to be in Canada, visited me after I went for the said interview in the Ivory Coast. She confessed that there was a business opportunity in the country and wanted me to join. At that point, I felt very sad and told my friend that her deceit had negatively affected him.”
Now that he has returned to Ghana, the young mechanic is disseminating his experience as a cautionary tale regarding these fraudulent travel schemes.
