Naa Anyama Clottey standing behind her artworks
A graffiti and street art exhibition ever held in Ghana has opened in Accra, featuring international and local artists, including famous Ghanaian artist, Serge Attoukwei Clottey and his sister, Naa Anyama Clottey.
The exhibition, which was organized by the Art Africa Gallery at Osu, is intended to raise funds in support of Korle-Bu Breast Cancer Unit.
The one-month long exhibition will come to an end on November 30, 2023 and it is featuring works by women artists across the globe, with 15 exhibitors taking part.
A 21-year-old woman artist, Naa Anyama Clottey, whose art works are on display, has a portfolio that includes landscapes of Akuapem, pineapple farm and many others.
Her artwork and other works depict the tale of how women artists are influencing contemporary painting, sculpture, fabric, and other arts.
According to her, getting out into nature makes her happy and said the exhibition would bring attention to “the massive role” artwork plays in bringing the issue of cancer to light on a world stage.
Ms. Clottey said the exhibition was being done to emphasize artists whose work speaks to issues of breast cancer.
Organisers of the exhibition said the programme is also intended to raise the commercial potential of female artists.
