Rev. Dr. Grace Sintim-Adasi, the Principal of the Agogo Presbyterian Women’s College of Education at Agogo, Asante Akyem, in the Ashanti Region, has shared a fascinating story about her life as an academic and religious leader.
Rev. Grace Sintim-Adasi, who has an exceptional record of leadership and doubles as a Research Fellow with the Religions and Philosophy Section of the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana, appeared on Joy News’ “PM Express Personality Profile” with host Ayisha Ibrahim and poured out nuggets of wisdom that have guided her journey from being a young woman with ambition to becoming a living testimony of the ambition.
She shared her thoughts on gender and change, talking about the unique roles that women, when educated, play in society.
“Women should be pushed into education. They should be empowered”, she told the host.
Rev. Sintim-Adasi also took a sneak peek into a book authored by her titled “Gender and Change: Roles and Challenges of Ordained Women Ministers of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana” which addresses the debate on women’s ordination.
She stated, from her research, that women until 1976 were not allowed into ministry or ordained as Pastors in the Presby church and the problem even lingers till date.
Her book takes a holistic look into the challenges of women in ministry and determines the extent to which their roles have been marginalized by the Church’s heirachy and the congregation at large.
Having become a beacon of hope for women who desire to be ordained as religious leaders, Rev. Grace Sintim-Adasi uses her book to bridge the gap between men and women in ministry and also position women as an important substance in the growth of the society.
