Good Education Made Me President—Tinubu

President Bola Tinubuon Thursday has said that he was once a security guard but a good education and can-do attitude was the reason he became Nigeria’s president.
President Tinubu urged Nigerians living in India not to be despondent assuring that Nigeria is ready to accommodate all.
Tinubu said this in an interaction with Nigerians on Thursday evening in India which was contained in a statement released by Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President, Media and Publicity.
Tinubu currently in India for the G-20 Summit advised Nigerian students in the Asian country to consider their education as a priority.
He said, “Good education brought me here and I am happy to stand before you here as the President of Nigeria. I started small. I was a security guard. I was a tutor in school. I was a brilliant student. I joined Deloitte and was trained by one of the biggest accounting firms in the world, because of my education.
Military saved Nigeria from losing N4bn — DHQ

The military high command on Thursday said its operations across the Niger Delta region have denied oil thieves from stealing crude oil estimated at N4bn from the country.
The command said within this period, over 6.6 million litres of stolen crude oil; 3.5 million litres of AGO; 200,000 litres of DPK, and over 65,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirits were recovered from oil thieves within the period under review.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba disclosed this in Abuja during the quarterly briefing on the operations of the military across the country between June and August 2023.
He said, “Troops operations in the South-South geopolitical zone resulted in the arrest of the following; 6,652,250 litres of stolen crude oil, 3,558,325 litres of illegally refined AGO, 288,650 litres of DPK, and 65,600 PMS. All amounting to an estimated sum of N4bn denied to the oil thieves. Thus saving the nation from losing this money to economic saboteurs.”

Liberian President, Weah, Unveils Campaign For Second term

Liberia’s President, George Weah, officially launched his campaign for a second term on Thursday, in front of thousands of supporters in the capital Monrovia ahead of next month’s polls.
Keen supporters of the West African country’s leader, a former international football star, began descending on a stadium in central Monrovia at dawn for the event.
“I am extremely pleased you put your confidence in me to lead our country over the last six years,” Weah said. “I owe my accession to the presidency to the hard work and perseverance of my supporters”.
“During our first term, we laid the foundations for peace, freedom of speech, macroeconomic stability, and restoring confidence in the national educational system. I can guarantee that the years 2024 and beyond will be better for all Liberians”.
Supporters wore red berets bearing the logo of the ruling CDC party as well as blue T-shirts with pictures of Weah and running mate Jewell Taylor, ex-wife of former president Charles Taylor, who is serving a 50-year jail sentence for war crimes and crimes against humanity in neighbouring Sierra Leone.
Ogun pays 40 per cent peculiar allowance to workers

Ogun State government has commenced payment of 40 per cent Peculiar Allowance to civil servants in the State, as part of measures to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.
Secretary to State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, who announced this in Abeokuta, the State capital, said the Dapo Abiodun-led government in the State remains committed to recognising and appreciating, the diligent efforts of the workers.
Talabi, noted that “the Peculiar Allowance was paid in fulfilment of the promises by Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration to cushion the effect of the economic hardship”.
The State’s scribe explained that the purpose of the allowance was to boost the capacity of the workers for better productivity at the present time, adding that conversion of the government buses to Compressed Natural Gas by the government would be an added advantage to ease workers’ and residents’ mobility.
