The on-going Senzo Meyiwa murder trial keeps taking different twists with each and every witness taking to the witness box at the North Gauteng High Court, things seems to be moving smoothly ever since Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng took over the case from the suspended Judge Tshifhiwa Maumela, on Tuesday afternoon, the matter took a huge twist when a new witness took to the stand and he literally threw one of the accused under the bus.
Jack Buthelezi who is a caused number 2, Bongani Ntanzi’s friend may have made things easier for the court on Tuesday when he took to the witness stand, he testified after Warrant Officer Thabo Mosia concluded his testimony, however, he dropped a bombshell when he told the court that his friend confirmed to him that he killed a well-known person.
According to Sipho ‘King K’ Kekana, SABC news journalist who is reporting live from the court, Buthelezi revealed to the court that he gave Ntanzi R500 after he confessed to him that ‘they’ [him. And His friend] had just killed Meyiwa, he said after telling him that, he broke down to tears and that was the last time he heard from him.
“Accused 2 Bongani Ntanzi’s friend, Jack Buthelezi, has dropped a bombshell at the high court in Pretoria, saying Ntanzi told him that he and his friends had killed the former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa. Buthelezi says Ntanzi cried when he revealed this to him after he was arrested. He says he gave Ntanzi R500 and that was the last time they ever communicated,” Kekana reports.
Ntanzi was also pointed and identified by the state witnesses who testified earlier when the case started, Tumelo Madlala and Zandile Khumalo who were also at the Khumalo house on the day the Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper and captain was shot and killed also pointes him out when they testified, it is now up to the court to decide who is the guilty accused among the five.
