Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Grant Margeman who signed with SuperSport United in the July transfer window after parting ways with Masandawana, scored the winning goal for Matsatsantsa on Saturday in their latest DStv Premiership fixture against Stellenbosch FC away from home.
SuperSport United made a comeback from 1-0 behind in the matchday 4 fixture to win the match 2-1 at full-time courtesy of goals scored by Ghampani Lungu and Grant Margeman. Both goals were scored in the second half as Stellenbosch FC were the only team to find the back of the net in the first half.
Jayden Adams opened the scoring in the first half of the match with his goal in the 37th minute as Stellenbosch FC held the 1-0 lead at the half-time break. SuperSport United levelled the score on 1-1 through a penalty scored in the 54th minute by Ghampani Lungu.
Grant Margeman scored his goal in the 85th minute as SuperSport gained the lead at 2-1. Matsatsantsa held onto their lead to win the match 2-1 at full-time for maximum points. SuperSport remains unbeaten in the DStv Premiership this season with three wins and one draw from four matches played to date.
However, SuperSport United suffered a 1-0 defeat to the very same Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 quarter-finals this season. After SuperSport won the latest league match 2-1 against Stellies on Saturday, they closed down on Mamelodi Sundowns who is on 15 points from five league matches in the first place spot.
Matsatsantsa now sits on 10 points from four league matches in the second place spot just behind Sundowns. Sundowns has played one match more than SuperSport, which means Gavin Hunt’s side could close the gap with another three points when they play their fifth league match.
