Controversial Bishop Daniel Obinim, a pastor in Ghana and the founder of the International God’s Way Church (IGWC), has complained that he allegedly owes the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) 23Million cedis in back taxes.
The well-known man of God claims that the authorities have not treated him fairly, pointing out that two of his fellow men of God, Rev. Obofour and Osofo Kyiriabosom, were both assessed lower fees. He explained that although Obinim was required to pay Gh23,000,000, Rev. Obofour and Osofo Kyririabosom had to politely pay Gh50,000 and Gh1,000,000,000 apiece.
Speaking during one of his church meetings, Obinim made this clear. He claims that when he inquired about the institution’s charges and asked why they were so high, he was informed that it was because he had more properties.
”I had an issue with GRA and they told me that I was not the only person they are having an issue with. Mr Gyambrah, a well known officer of the company told me that. He told me they had similar issues with Rev Obofour and Osofo Kyiriabosom. They took Gh50,000 from Rev Obofour and Gh1,00,000,000 from Kyiriabosom. And they told me they will take Gh23,000,000,000 from me. I asked them why? And I was it is because they heard I have houses in China, london, America, Germany, Spain and so many other houses…and they showed me pictures of them as well as pictures of my cars.”
He continued, ”They went for my bank statement and showed it to mein their office. I paid Gh10,000,000,00 cash right away becuase what they were bringing me….i just dont want continue. I have really suffered.’
