Few moments ago, Premier League Giant, Manchester United took to social media to release an official statement regarding the future of 21 year Old England International, Mason Greenwood at the club.
In a post shared on their Official Facebook page today being Monday the 21st day of August, 2023 The Red Devil’s revealed that after carrying out their investigations, they realized that Greenwood is not guilty of the crimes he was accused of, but regardless of that, a verbal agreement has been reached between the club and the player to part ways as they believe that’s the best decision.
A lot of Manchester United were not happy with the decision as they were expecting the 21 year old to be reinstated back into the team. I really think the Red Devil’s made the right call and in this article, we will be taking a look at 2 reasons why I think so.
1. Protection
Manchester United is one of the biggest club in the world and they would not want to be tagged as a club that is “Domestic Abuse”. The board members are trying to protect the image of the club and that’s probably why they made that decision, thay literally wanted to keep a clean slate.
2. Backlash from fans
Recall that few days ago, they were some speculations making rounds that the Red Devil’s were planning to reinstate Greenwood back into the team and it didn’t go down too well with some of the fans, most especially the female fans as some even threatened to quit supporting the club, the decision today might also be as a result of that aswell.
