The Labour Party Governorship candidate in Imo State, Senator Athan Achonu, on Sunday reacted to the allegations that he was sponsored to contest the election by Governor of the State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the election, Hope Uzodimma.
The Vanguard Newspaper reported that, Senator Athan Achonu said; “This is a stand-alone election. It has never taken place before so expect something new to happen and nobody will rig us out. Labour Party has won without firing a shot. Also, It is an insult to say that Hope Uzodimma gave me money to sponsor me in this election how can that be? I have invested billions of naira so how can Hope sponsor me?”

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the governorship election in Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa states will hold on the 11th of November, 2023.
