Despite financial challenges, nurses at Ethembeni Care Centre pursue their profession with passion and dedication as they serve the most vulnerable in the community.
The centre, located in KwaMbonambi, is a healthcare facility that provides services to patients with terminal illnesses.
As the centre embodies hope and represents a care centre dedicated to instilling optimism in the lives of those facing medical adversity and feeling hopeless, an awards ceremony was held to honour its dedicated nurses, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to their noble profession.
Operating amid financial challenges, the centre can pay its nurses only a small stipend for their immense responsibilities.
However, centre manager Sthuli Mavundla, a visionary leader in the community, recognised their selfless efforts and organised the awards ceremony to express gratitude in spite of limited resources.
The event was sponsored by Old Mutual.
Driven by a profound sense of purpose, the nurses continue to believe their work makes a real difference in the lives of those who seek solace at Ethembeni Care Centre.
Although the facility initially worked around issues relating to TB and HIV/ Aids, it now conducts more clinical work than before, and gives hope to people who need palliative care.
The nurses’ unwavering hope serves as a guiding light for those feeling helpless and despondent.
