I Had To Work Hard After People Told Me That Creativity Wouldn’t Take Me Anywhere – Mercy Atewe

22-year-old Mercy Atewe, an Economics graduate of Covenant University, has narrated how she ventured into hair dressing.

While speaking during an interview with the Vanguard Newspaper, she said, “My name is Mercy Atewe. I’m 22 and studied Economics at Covenant University. I graduated in 2021.”

“Growing up, I had a lot of skills at my disposal; I was a very creative person. I was always told that creativity wouldn’t get me anywhere, so I had to work hard and study economics to earn a living.”

Further speaking, she said, “How I got into making hair is because of my hairdresser; she wasn’t so good with my hair. My hair was cutting; it was very terrible, so I said to myself, that I have to learn how to make hair.”

“I’m the only girl in my family, so there is no way to try my trade on anyone, so I tried it on myself and took the skill to school. In the university, people started asking me to make their hair for them.”
