Released Orlando Pirates midfielder Collins Makgaka remains a free agent after a second failed trial run in the DStv Premiership failed to turn out to be a success.
Collins Makgaka was one of the players released by Orlando Pirates at the end of last season. He exited the club alongside Craig Martin, Nkanyiso Zungu and Ndumiso Mabena among others.
Orlando Pirates has two trophies to defend and Jose Riveiro has a plan set out to defend it as he released players and signed new additions with Makgaka not forming part of Riveiro’s plans.
After his departure from the Buccaneers, Makgaka ended up at Stellenbosch FC where he enjoyed a trial run which proved to be unsuccessful with the Cape winelands side opting against signing him.
With Junior Mendieta completing the move to Mamelodi Sundowns in the transfer window, Stellenbosch FC was looking for that replacement in the midfield, but Makgaka was not the one.
Makgaka eventually ended up at AmaZulu FC where he tried his luck with the Durban-based outfit, but it now seems, that Usuthu has not been impressed by the 27-year-old former Baroka FC midfielder.
According to a source, Makgaka could not impress AmaZulu FC’s new head coach Pablo Franco Martin, therefore the club will not be signing him in the transfer window.
Makgaka failed make a mark at the Buccaneers since he joined them in 2028 from Baroka FC. However, he did feature in a staggering 24 matches last season and was part of the club’s MTN8 title winning squad.
With the transfer window still open, hopefully he can still manage to find a new club before its too late. Since he’s a free agent, Makgaka is unaffected by the transfer window and can sign with any club at any time.
