Rapper and singer Lasmid has reportedly departed Kaywa’s Highly Spiritual record label.

In a brief interview with Andy Dosty on Adom TV’s ShowTym on Sunday, June 4, 2023, the Chief Executive Officer of the label Kaywa acknowledged the resignation while refusing to delve into details of what might have gone on behind the scenes.

He suggested that despite their back-and-forth discussions, Lasmid’s eventual choice might have been impacted by some internal issues.

“The conversation with Lasmid has been a back and forth but it was way before VGMA. He started trumpeting ‘I want to go, I want to go’ a long time ago. There is a back story but I wouldn’t wanna make it public,” he said.

Kawya, however, assured fans that at the right time, the entire truth would be spilt to bring clarity to the whole messy saga.

Over the years, Highly Spiritual Record Label housed other mainstream artists like Kurl Songs, Yaw Berk, Krymi and King Maaga but they all left to explore other opportunities externally, sometimes fraught with disagreements.

In the same vein, Nigerian star Naira Marley expressed interest in recruiting Lasmid to his record label back in 2022.

In an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, the singer voiced his respect for the emerging generation of Ghanaian musicians, noting that they are making tremendous development with their music.

The ‘Soapy’ singer went on to praise Lasmid, the 2019 MTN Hitmaker winner. With the release of his most recent song, “Friday Night,” the young musician has elevated himself to the top of the current list of artists.

Naira Marley told Andy Dosty that he would like have Lasmid join his Marlians record company together with Zinoleesky and Mohbad since Lasmid’s music is excellent.
