The opposition has called for a probe into the Kenya Revenue Authority after the government failed to pay its employees.
According to Opiyo Wandayi, the minority leader in the National Assembly, the investigation should look into workers and computer systems at the National Treasury and the Central Bank of Kenya to determine what went wrong.
Wandayi stated in a statement that the government should not relate the situation on Covid-19, the conflict in Ukraine, or the global economic crisis in general.
Azimio feels that theft, ineptitude, nepotism, tribalism, and other forms of corruption have had an impact on significant tax collection sites, according to Wandayi.
He claimed that the Kenyan government is unable to pay the wages of Legislators and civil officials for the first time since the country’s independence in 1963.
Wandayi believes that the only organizations that have received funding are the military and the police. The Minority Leader went on to say that a full inquiry of the country’s oncoming financial and economic disaster was required.
He stated unequivocally that counties have not received funds from the National Treasury in at least four months.
