Afena-Gyan’s mom speaks her mind during live program on radio over son’s Black Stars snub » ™-

When the topic of Felix Afena-Gyan’s refusal to play for the Black Meteors was discussed during a sports show on Sompa FM, Felix Afena-Gyan’s mother, Juliet Adubea, allegedly defended her son.

The forward who currently plays for US Cremonese and was formerly with AS Roma reportedly declined an invitation to join the Ghana U23 squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

Before back-to-back games against Algeria for a place in the U23 Africa Cup of Nations this year, the 20-year-old was called up to the Black Meteors squad to strengthen it.

The erstwhile AS Roma youngster was allowed to join the rest of the team by his club, but he declined the invitation.

The Serie A club has reportedly received all necessary travel papers from the Ghana FA, but the player has opted not to show up for practice with Ibrahim Tanko’s squad, according to information gleaned from Ghanasoccernet.

Since he was a member of the team that defeated Nigeria in the playoffs, the development has prompted widespread online speculation that the player is upset about being passed over for the World Cup competition being held in Qatar.

Juliet Adubea purportedly sent a message to the host of Kumasi-based Sompa FM during the discussion urging the public to recognize what her son had accomplished for the nation.

“A message has come and I’m very surprised. This is coming from Juliet Afena-Gyan, the mother of Felix Afena Gyan, and its reads ‘let’s try at least to be grateful for what the boy did for Ghana,” the host read in the video sighted by GhanaWeb Sports.
