NDC Race: Duffuor Grabs No. 3, Mahama Takes No. 1

John Mahama, Kojo Bonsu and Dr. Kwabena Duffuor

Flagbearer aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has placed number 3 following the outcome of balloting at the party’s headquarters in Accra to determine the position of the flagbearer aspirants on the ballot paper for the party’s election slated for May 13, 2023.

Former President John Mahama, placed number 1 and former Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu followed with number 2.

Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has called on the rank and file of the party to forge ahead in unison after the party’s primaries in order to win the 2024 general elections.

Scores of people clad in shirts embossed with the image of Dr. Duffuor thronged the party’s headquarters to observe the balloting.

A leading member of the NDC and former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Fritz Baffoe, who spoke on behalf of Dr. Kwabena Duffuor on Tuesday after the vetting, called on the rank and file of the party to forge ahead in unison after the primaries to win the 2024 general elections.

According to him, the former Finance Minister would help transform the economic difficulties facing the country when elected as the flagbearer of the party.

Mr. Baffoe said the former Finance Minister excelled as he demonstrated his capabilities when he appeared before the vetting committee, which shows his readiness to lead the party.

He said, “Dr. Duffuor has really showed that he is a true member of the NDC who has leadership capacity to lead the party to win the 2024 general elections to revitalise our economy to repair the country’s governance systems.”

He, therefore, called on members of the NDC, particularly the delegates, to vote for Dr. Duffuor as the flagbearer of the party to subsequently capture power from the NPP to transform the ailing economy.

The former Finance Minister will be contesting the likes of former President John Mahama, and Kojo Bonsu on May 13, 2023.

Meanwhile, businessman Ernest Kobeah pulled out of his bid to contest for the flagbearership race of the National Democratic Congress.
