Ghana’s Economy Can Be Transformed If National Policy Agenda Is Introduced – Says Chief.

The chief of Denase a town along the Kumasi – Offinso road in the Ashanti Region, Nana Boakye Yiadom Atonsa II has linked the challenges that have been confronting the country to the absence of the introduction of National Policy Agenda.

He said unlike the 1992 constitution which the sitting government(s) have been alleged using it manipulate the state laws in their favor, National Policy Agenda is an all inclusive policy managed by all stakeholders at the national level.

Speaking to the Correspondent in an interview, Nana Atonsa Yiadom II who also doubles as the Asantehene’s Atenehene expressed worry that the country though have policies that could help develop the economy.

He alleged that the authorities have been hiding under the constitutional rule to undermine the progress of the country.

Nana indicated that the national policy agenda seeks to bring the citizens the traditional authorities, politicians, traders, security, mechanics and all class of people on board as part of decision makers of the country..

The policy he said, also discourages political interference as it is wholly enforced it neutrally to the benefit of the people.

Nana Atonsa Yiadom II noted that the advanced democratic countries have been able to chalk economic success because of the application of the national policy system, though they have their democratic constitutions which also guide their economies.

Nana cited lawlessness. corruption in high places. human rights abuses, environmental degradation through illegal mining and destruction of water bodies, disrespect to authority among others as some of the challenges confronting the country.

He said though the country is under constitutional rule, yet antisocial vices tend to be the order of the day adding that if the National Policy system is in existence stakeholders would put measures in place to address those canker.

Atenehene further reiterated that due to the absence of the national policy agenda, sitting government(s) refuse to complete uncomplicated projects of their predecessors.

Nana Boakye Yiadom Atonsa II described such situation as a waste of national resources that leads to economic decline.

Hence Nana’s humble and passionately appealed to the country’s legislators to take a second look into the issue and implement the National Policy system for the benefit of the country.
