It will interest you to note that the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections has already completed and the results from the different polling units throughout the country have started rolling in, collation has already started and will be concluded soon for the various states by INEC. The following is an analysis of the candidates who won the election for governor in their respective states.
In the results that have been made public so far, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in a total of 12 of the states. These states are Sokoto, Katsina, Jigawa, Yobe, Gombe, Kwara, Nasarawa, Lagos, Ogun, Niger, Cross River, and Ebonyi. According to INEC, the APC has won all of these states. To date, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been victorious in the following five states: Bauchi, Oyo, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Plateau. These victories have placed the PDP in the position of election runner-up. The New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) is the third most popular political party in Nigeria, yet they only have one state to show for their efforts. The Labour Party and other political parties are still yet to win in any state stated so far by INEC.
