Known as the “Paris of the East”, the luxury real estate development in Zhejiang province was designed to evoke classical European charm.
However according to the insider, the city that could hold 10000 residents has remained mostly abandoned save for employees of a nearby French-themed amusement park.
Now, the ghost town mainly attracts urban decay tourists and the occasional wedding couple who come to pose for photographs in front of the Eiffel tower.
But experts warn that the Paris of the East hasn’t lost its shot at becoming a bustling city of light and love quite yet.
Why is the town abandoned?
The lack of people is mostly attributed to its odd location. Tianducheng is surrounded mostly by farmland and odd dead-end roads that snake throughout the countryside.
