According to manager Xavi, Sergio Busquets, a midfielder for Barcelona, will be able to play against Manchester United in the second leg of their Europa League elimination play-off matchup on Thursday.
Recently, the La Liga leaders have struggled with midfield ailments, with Busquets suffering an ankle injury that kept him out of the first leg versus United, during which Pedri also sustained a muscular injury.
Busquets was back on the bench for Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Cadiz but didn’t participate; nonetheless, Xavi has assured supporters that choice was deliberate in anticipation of his Thursday comeback at Old Trafford.
Xavi also used the occasion to allay any doubts regarding the health of Frenkie de Jong and Robert Lewandowki, who were both replaced in the second half of the match against Cadiz to keep them fresh for the European match.
