An elder stateman from the South West region of the country, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, has claimed the Northern Elders Forum will not adopt Mr. Peter Obi or Asiwaju Tinubu as their preferred presidential candidate with less than seven days left until Nigerian eligible voters head to their respective polling units to cast their votes for their preferred candidate to take over the affairs of the country after the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
You may remember that a group of northern elders made a claim that they had already chosen their candidate. It should be borne in mind that the forum has not yet publicly introduced its candidate. Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party is the forum’s top pick, but Ayo Adebanjo claims he already knew that.
The leader of Afenifere told Tribune Newspaper exclusively that Mr. Peter Obi and Asiwaju Tinubu cannot be the north’s preferred candidates.
Observe him “Tinubu is out, and Obi is out as a candidate for them. It’s definitely Atiku. When they pointed out that another Northerner could be taking the place of a Northerner, he responded, “So what?”” Adebanjo was cited by the Tribune Newspaper.
