Now 35, Jones’ last fight was at UFC 247 in February 2020. He defeated Dominick Reyes via decision and retained the UFC Light Heavyweight championship, the belt now worn by Hill.
In January 2023, UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left the company due to a contract dispute. The belt was left vacant, and Gane was named interim champion with a UFC 265 win. He will defend the interim champion tag against Jones in March.
Jones is not listed in UFC’s current top 15 heavyweights. The former Light Heavyweight champion will hope to crack the rankings and work his way up the standings. Gane last fought in September 2022 against Tai Tuivasa.
