UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill calls out Jon Jones

New UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill has called out former champion Jon Jones. Mixed martial arts fans across the globe are now hoping for a major UFC fight between the two MMA stars.

Hill won the vacant Light Heavyweight belt from former champion Glover Teixeira at UFC 283 in the event’s main event. Hill won the match by decision over the Brazilian fighter. Now, the new champion has his eyes on a fighter man experts believe is one of the greatest of all time.

UFC fans are anticipating Jones’ return to the octagon and the company’s 285 event. Fight fans can visit bettors.co.ke to get the latest betting news in Kenya and to learn all about sports betting before the massive MMA show.

Jones may not be ready to take up Hill’s call out, however. The MMA legend will fight in the heavyweight division after packing on the pounds to fight for the UFC’s top title prize. Jones will return to the UFC’s octagon on March 4th with a marquee match-up against Ciryl Gane in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena.

Although Jones has moved up to a new weight class, Hill has stated he will move up in weight to fight Jones. However, Hill wants to defend the Light Heavyweight belt before making the move into the new weight class. Oftentimes, modern UFC fighters will move up in weight class to pursue more gold after winning a championship belt at their usual weight class.

Hill recently said fighting Jones would be a “dream fight”. He went on to say fighting Jones has crossed his mind regularly.

Jones will return to action after having his comeback pushed back. The former champion has had numerous issues outside of the octagon and is only ready to make his return to the MMA world. By the time the bell rings in March for Jones’ fight against Gane in Las Vegas, he will have been out of action for more than three years. There will be questions over whether Jones can step back into the octagon and be as dominant as he was previously, especially at a new heavier weight.

Jones will fight Gane at UFC 285 in March. The heavyweight fight is scheduled as the main event for the UFC 285 show. Jones has a career record of 26-1 in MMA fights, while Gane is 11-1. Now 35, Jones’ last fight was at UFC 247 in February 2020. He defeated Dominick Reyes via decision and retained the UFC Light Heavyweight championship, the belt now worn by Hill.

In January 2023, UFC Heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left the company due to a contract dispute. The belt was left vacant, and Gane was named interim champion with a UFC 265 win. He will defend the interim champion tag against Jones in March.

Jones is not listed in UFC’s current top 15 heavyweights. The former Light Heavyweight champion will hope to crack the rankings and work his way up the standings. Gane last fought in September 2022 against Tai Tuivasa.
