An epic game went down in the English Premier League today when Arsenal hosted Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday evening. It was obviously an intense game between both sides but Arsenal who were the better side clinched a well-deserved 3-2 win over Man United thanks to goals from Edward Nketiah (twice) and Bukayo Saka.
Well, Gabriel Martinelli retained his known position in Arsenal’s starting lineup today as he struggled to give a decent performance against Manchester United. The Brazilian International didn’t have a good game facing Aaron Wan Bissaka on the left-hand flank as his offensive threat was subdued in the game for the Gunners. We have seen better displays from him this season but recently he seems to be out-of-form which is becoming worrying for the Manchester United team.
Well, I believe his unconvincing display in the game justifies why he needs competition at the club this season. With the recent recruitment of Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Martinelli will most likely sit some games on the bench since he is presently a weak link in Arsenal’s attack. This possible competition between him and Leandro Trossard will force the Brazilian International to step up his game for the Gunners this season.
