Banks will not do anything to Yahoo Boys because they see them as big customers, says Police PRO

The Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, Bright Edafe, on Monday disclosed that banks will not alert security agencies whenever Internet fraudsters popularly known as Yahoo Boys withdraw huge sums of money from them because the banks see them as big customers.

He also said even most of the big hotels won’t do anything if they know that the lodgers are internet fraudsters because they believe their businesses will fail if the boys stop patronizing them.

Edafe was responding to a tweet by a man who said he was surprised that Yahoo Boys visit banks almost on a daily basis and no bank officials ever bothered to alert both the anti graft agencies and other security agencies to arrest them.

The man, whose Twitter handle is @DanielRhega, had written on the matter, saying that banks are supposed to monitor closely transactions that are suspicious and report them to the appropriate authorities.

However, responding to the tweet, Edafe said the banks would not do what the man suggested because they see the Yahoo Boys as some of their major customers.
