Bandits Held A Meeting With Me In The Forest Where I Was Held Captive –Retired Colonel Discloses

According to news report by Punch News, a retired Colonel, Rabiu Garba Yandoto has disclosed that while he was in captivity, he had a meeting with some bandit leaders who have been declared wanted by the military.

It would be recalled that retired colonel Rabiu Garba Yandoto, alongside his children were abducted by bandits on Wednesday, along Gusau-Tsafe road in Tsafe Local Government Area. The retired colonel and his children were however released on Tuesday following the payment of N10 million ransom.

After his release, the retired colonel spoke to journalists in Gusau on Wednesday, where he disclosed that he was not maltreated in any way while he was in captivity. He noted that he was treated well and even had a meeting with some bandit leaders.

Retired Colonel Rabiu Garba Yandoto added that during the meeting which was held in the forest where he was held captive, they discussed numerous issues. ‘We discussed so many issues which I will not disclose for now due to some reasons.’

He further stated that he was allowed to join the meeting because the bandits understood his position as a retired military officer. He also noted that the bandits gave him some messages to convey to the appropriate authorities.

‘They gave me the opportunity to talk as they understood my position as a retired military officer I think the reason why they didn’t take drastic action against me was that they have some messages which they want me to pass to the appropriate authorities. Some are top secret, some are officials while some are ordinary messages’ –he said.
