2023 Presidency: Why I Won’t Campaign For Peter Obi – Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has disclosed why he will not join Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi’s campaign train.

In his New Year’s speech to Nigerians, headlined “My Appeal to All Nigerians, Especially Young Nigerians,” the former president supported Peter Obi’s quest for the presidency and got both praise and criticism. Obasanjo declared on Thursday at a virtual event hosted by Africa Leadership Group with the theme “Leadership and nation building” that he has fulfilled his responsibility by publicly announcing his candidate.

While claiming that he had no regrets about ruling Nigeria, he explained that leadership requires character, qualities, attitude, talents, and, most significantly, the fear of God. “Nigeria is in its current position because to leadership. “We must aggressively seek out individuals and women who possess the character, traits, skill, and attitude necessary for leadership in this nation,” he stated.

Obasanjo stated that he has done his best by making his endorsement known and that he does not belong to a political party. “I am not actively campaigning. I’ve used the advantage of my experience and expressed myself clearly. “I am a member of no political party. I will not participate in any campaign. Obasanjo added, “I have spoken what is best for the nation.”
