Big Blow To Nyanza People As Report Shows 3 Nyanza Counties Fail To Spend On Development

Controller of Budget under Margaret Nyakang’o has shared a report showing how counties are spending on development.

According to the report which focused on the first quarter of the 2022/2023 financial year, three Nyanza Counties namely Kisumu county, Migori County and Siaya county have not spend much on development between July and September 2022. However, Homa Bay county which is under governor Gladys Wanga increased its expenditure by 100 percent compared to the same period last year.

Moreover, the report indicated that most counties spent their funds on recurrent expenditure which included wages and allowances.

Taita Taveta, Machakos, Baringo , Nairobi, Lamu, Narok and Wajir were some of the counties which were recognized for spending less than 20 percent on development.

Margaret Nyakang’o has advised the three counties to identify and address what is causing the delays in development projects.
