Chelsea were in action on Thursday night against Man City at Stamford bridge and lost 1-0 to Pep Guardiola’s men. Following that loss to Man City, Chelsea occupy 10th spot in the premier league, 10 points behind 4th placed Man United.
With that in mind, it is now obvious that Graham Potter whom we all thought would get the best out of this Chelsea team is not capable of building a club as big as Chelsea. Before things get worse than it is already, the Chelsea board may need to sack Graham Potter. If that happens, here are 3 tactical Managers that could replace the English Man at Stamford bridge.
1. Marcelo Bielsa
Marcelo Bielsa is known to be one of the Managers whose tactical approach to a game is tremendous. His tactics was seen while he was managing Leeds United. He helped Leeds to finally get back to premier league football after a long time and immediately hit the ground running with some really good football in the premier league. Leeds’ pressing was aggressive and if Bielsa is employed as Chelsea’s Manager, there is no doubt that Chelsea would get back to playing exciting football.
2. Rafael Benitez
A very popular Manager indeed, but he didn’t really enjoy fortunes like winning a major silver ware as a Manager. However, he is very experienced and is very good at managing teams in crisis. This was seen in the job he did at Newcastle.
Similarly, Chelsea are now in crisis as a club as they look completely out of the top 4 race. But if Benitez becomes Chelsea’s next Manager, he definitely would be able to turn their fortunes around. However, he will be best suited as an Interim Manager, rather than a Manager on long term basis.
3. Mauricio Pochettino
Pochettino is one of the best Managers in World football considering how much he transformed Tottenham into a top 4 team. He managed Paris Saint Germain and even won the league but wasn’t enough due to their early exit from Champions league football.
Probably the task at Paris was too much for him being that they wanted Champions league glory, a job at Chelsea would definitely suit the Argentine. He already has the experience of managing top clubs and is one of the best Managers in the world.
