“If he does speak, it will be announced through a signed statement, not via Twitter.”
Nigerian politician Ibrahim Babangida has denied allegations that he supported Labor Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 general elections.
A recent tweet by the parody account (General_Ibbro) claimed that the former military chief endorsed former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s endorsement of Obi. “General Olusegun Obasanjo will forever be a true elder statesman and military leader. A general serving in the Nigerian Army today did not join the armed forces before 1982. By then, Obasanjo had ended his military career. I really respect him with his support,” he said in a tweet.
When contacted, the former military leader’s spokesman, Prince Kassim Afegbua, denied that his principal endorsed Obi and said IBB does not have a Twitter account. “No please.” Ignore appro calculations. IBB does not have a Twitter account.
“If he speaks, it will be through a signed statement, not on Twitter. The people behind the Twitter statement are liars.”
In another development, two chairmen of the Presidential Campaign Committee (PCC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have left the party.
They submitted their resignations in handwritten letters on January 1 and 3, respectively.
