As the race for the presidency gathers steam across Nigeria’s political space ahead of the 2023 general elections, a chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Professor Chris Nwaokobia has come out to accuse the Governor of Delta, and Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ifeanyi Okowa of attempting to muzzle supporters of Peter Gregory Obi in his domain.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE TV’s ‘Prime Time’ with Sumner Sambo a few hours ago, Nwaokobia, who is a member of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, alleged that Okowa ordered all tricycle riders operating in Delta State to have campaign stickers of Peter Obi removed from their vehicles or face sanctions.
He said; “Let me tell you, Sumner, about three weeks ago, I went to my home state of Delta to bury my uncle. And I traversed the whole of Delta-North as I drove around with friends the night. I can tell you that it is only the Obi-Datti and Labour Party stickers that we saw on the Keke rides everywhere. All the ‘Keke Marwas’ had only one sticker.
And the information we are getting from home now is that the Governor of Delta state has called the leaders of the tricycle unions, ordering them to have all the stickers removed. We are everywhere.”
