In terms of what it stood for and what it sought to achieve in the future, a coalition of progressive individuals cannot be ruled out like minded cadres who are immersed in the best traditions of the movement.

A future where the ANC is in opposition benches Nationally with majorities in certain provinces is now an apparent reality that we must plan for, this might happen in the electoral cycle that will start in 2029. Important lessons can be extrapolated from the INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESS, an organisation of the same ideological orientation as the ANC. Yes, the skies did not fall when the DA took over the western cape. But the WC was a launching pad for the DA to take over the country. The reversal of policy will only be seen once that strategy of the DA takes full effect at the national level.

TM therefore, draws an essential line in the future in a way, he forces us to think about what a future without a progressive ANC entrenched amongst the people will mean revolutionaries never pin hopes on short term solutions, but always have an eye on the future and the prospects of success and failure it holds for the country, that is why we are at times dazzled by their formulations and thought processes

With all due respect, president Thabo Mbeki, this analysis is unnecessarily alarmist.
