<\/div>\nA student who is allergic to sex says she\u2019s left in excruciating pain after getting hot and steamy.<\/p>\n
Chloe Lowery, 18, says oral sex turns her face so numb she looks like she\u2019s been injected with anaesthetic at the dentist.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s been told by a doctor that the pain is caused by a \u201chypersensitivity to sperm,\u201d and she says her skin turned red the first time she touched it \u2013 but she thought little of the rash.<\/p>\n
However, after another sexual encounter left her face \u201cdrooping,\u201d Chloe says she\u2019s had to stay away from oral sex.<\/p>\n

Chloe, from Colorado in the US, recalled: \u201cIt was on the right side of my face, it was droopy and I just couldn\u2019t express emotion at least with my mouth. It kind of felt like when you get a numbing shot at the dentist in your gums.<\/p>\n
\u201cI honestly laughed it off, I thought it was more funny than anything. I was afraid it was going to be permanent but I slowly got my feeling back so I was fine but I\u2019ve avoided it since for good reason.\u201d<\/p>\n
After a trip to the doctor, the 18-year-old says her suspicions were confirmed \u2013 she had a seminal plasma hypersensitivity, which is a rare allergic reaction to the proteins found in most men\u2019s sperm.<\/p>\n
Her allergy means she gets a painful \u201cburning\u201d sensation down below for an hour after sex that she describes as feeling like \u201ca million acupuncture needles.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chloe, who studies English at university, is learning how to live with her rare condition \u2013 but says many people she tells about it have never heard of it.<\/p>\n
She now says she has to prepare for sex by having a wee beforehand, but sometimes that doesn\u2019t help and she\u2019ll still have to put ice on her private parts afterwards.<\/p>\n
Chloe also practises safe sex and uses condoms \u2013 which appears to have stopped her severe allergic reactions for now.https:\/\/get-latest.convrse.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI have to disclose it to partners like \u2018by the way, there\u2019s certain things I can\u2019t do because of what I have\u2019 and nobody has seemed to mind. They think that it\u2019s actually more interesting or funny than anything, so it hasn\u2019t caused me any relationship issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople actually want to know more but of course they don\u2019t want to do their own research, so they ask me for all the details.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added that while she doesn\u2019t think her condition is \u201csuper common\u201d she reckons more people have it than are letting on.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just think people mistake it for other things or have more minor reactions than me and so again they think nothing of it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople just don\u2019t even believe it\u2019s a thing because it\u2019s so uncommon or at least it\u2019s not spoken about, so they\u2019re more intrigued than anything.<\/p>\n
\u201cOnce I describe my experience they believe me, but at first a lot of the time people are like \u2018no way, that\u2019s a real thing?\u2019 and then they go \u2018oh, that sucks\u2019 and I\u2019m just like \u2018it doesn\u2019t, I live with it, there\u2019s worse things out there\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
