Nii, an okada rider on the right<\/strong><\/p>\n Some group of persons who identified themselves as Concerned Mobile Subscribers Union, have issued a communique beseeching all and sundry to join hands with them as they embark on a nationwide demonstration against the hectic ongoing sim card re-registration exercise on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, while they also resolved to freeze all phone calls as well.<\/p>\n However, as the d-day is finally here, the demonstration is still intact, but background research indicates some Ghanaians have diversified views about the demonstration, most especially with regards to the exercise of abandoning phone calls from today until their concerns are heard.<\/p>\n While some people solidly rally their support behind the decision of the Mobile Subscribers Union to demonstrate and to withhold calls making via phones, some even though have absolutely agreed to the decision find it challenging to actually switch off their mobile phones since it is basically the major means through which they transact their businesses.<\/p>\n Speaking to a TV3 reporter on the streets of parts of Accra, some people expressed their concerns and thought about the ongoing demonstration.<\/p>\n Desmond, a trader speaking to the media<\/strong><\/p>\n “I am so happy to hear that some people have gathered courage to stand to their feet and protest the hectic and exhausting ongoing sim card re-registeration exercise. Frankly speaking, I spent over 7 hours in a queue just to get my sim card re-registered. I agree with the demonstration and I want to encourage everyone that it is an intervention that we all must make sure we are a part of. My only difficulty is switching off my mobile phone since it is my primary means of executing my business transactions,” Serwaa, a trader commented.<\/p>\n “I was so glad to hear that a demonstration will be held against this obnoxious sim card re-registration exercise. I was almost pissed off during the process. I am ready to support this demonstration and I am also ready to switch off my mobile phone if that is what will help bring back some level of sanity into the registration exercise,” Nii, an okada rider inside Accra also said.<\/p>\n “I support the demonstration entirely. My only problem is not making calls. I can’t actually transact my business without making calls. However, I know that to gain something, another must be lost or sacrificed.
