The Teranga Lions saw victory after Mane scored the winning goal during the penalty shootouts.<\/p>\n<p>Following this feat, Mr Mahama took to social media platform Facebook to celebrate with the Senegalese team.<\/p>\n<p>In a Facebook post, the former President noted that Senegal has persevered all these years and must therefore \u201cenjoy this moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSenegal made it!! Congratulations. Your wait has been very long but it\u2019s finally here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FJDMahama%2Fposts%2F488145852667152&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500\" width=\"500\" height=\"482\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; picture-in-picture; web-share\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Also, Member of Parliament for North Tongu constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in a tweet, noted that Senegal worked so hard to emerge as \u201cthe better team\u201d at the end of the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>He, however, commended Egypt goalkeeper, Gabaski\u00a0for his tremendous effort in the finale. Gabaski in the 7th minute of the match prevented Senegal from securing its goal after receiving a penalty when Saliou Cisse was brought down in the box by Mohamed Abdelmonem.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to the game, Mr Ablakwa made known his support for Senegal. He opposed Egypt\u2019s victory so as to \u2018prevent\u2019 the team from winning its 8th trophy.
