{"id":979706,"date":"2022-02-07T09:54:52","date_gmt":"2022-02-07T09:54:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/02\/07\/e-levy-fixthecountry-movement-declines-ndcs-demo-invitation\/"},"modified":"2022-02-07T09:54:52","modified_gmt":"2022-02-07T09:54:52","slug":"e-levy-fixthecountry-movement-declines-ndcs-demo-invitation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/02\/07\/e-levy-fixthecountry-movement-declines-ndcs-demo-invitation\/","title":{"rendered":"E-levy: FixTheCountry Movement declines NDC&#8217;s demo invitation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"435\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/059A6599-696x435.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Opare Addo\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">NDC National Youth Organiser<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The #FixTheCountry Movement has declined an invitation from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to join its protest against the controversial Electronic Transaction Levy (E-levy).<\/p>\n<p>The letter was delivered to the Movement on Friday,\u00a0February 4, 2022, to join the demonstration scheduled for Thursday, February 10.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Movement in its reply stated that it will rather want to build a multi-sectoral and non-partisan coalition against the levy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also on several occasions expressed concern over the fact that the government has not taken measures aimed at cutting down expenditure, waste and the penchant for profligacy among our political class.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also expressed consistent frustration that governments after governments continue to borrow money for projects which they then abandon like the Saglemi housing project, after stealing the project funds through well-designed corruption vehicles.
