Yesterday, the government organized another Town Hall meeting to sensitize Ghanaians on the need to pay the E-levy. The day saw Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta, Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Egyapa Mercer and other big wigs attending. Ken Ofori Atta charged Ghanaians to hold him responsible if the e-levy funds are misused, he called on Ghanaians to ignore the propaganda talks from the opposition and contribute to develop the country.<\/p>\n

During the question and answers time each person was allowed only 2 questions to allow in more questions. The questions started with Kirk Mensah, the NDC Western Regional Communications Officer. Then another gentleman walked to take the microphone. He charged the Akufo-Addo led government with profligate spending. He noted that if the government cut down on expenditure it will save the country.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, the gentleman made a rather strange allegation when he mentioned that Kojo Oppong Nkrumah flies an expensive jet to the UK every week. He added that this was draining the coffers of the country and must be remedied. At that moment, the microphone was taken from him and he was alerted that he had asked his 2 questions. This caused an uproar at the scene and it had to take Oppong Nkrumah to take the microphone and quiet those present.<\/p>\n

In response, Oppong Nkrumah, the Minister of Information denied travelling to the United Kingdom every week. He asked that those peddling allegations about him to get their facts right. He also dispelled talks that the government was wasting resources. He called on all to join hands to build the country.<\/p>\n
