He added that the Speaker should resign if he thinks he’s not in the best of conditions.

The Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is currently in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai seeking medical attention and review.

This was made known after a letter issued on the Clerk of Parliament’s behalf to the Head of Mission of the Ghana Embassy in UAE said ” I have been directed by the Clerk of Parliament to inform you about the arrival of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, in Dubai, to undergo a medical review.”

Meanwhile, the Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan has stated that the Speaker’s frequent travels on health grounds are a serious security threat to the country. He, therefore, entreated the Members of Parliament to call on the Speaker to resign from his position. This is the second time the Speaker has traveled to Dubai on health grounds.

While speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Mr. Duncan said ” Speaker Alban Bagbin’s frequent trips to Dubai is a serious security threat to this country. So, imagine tomorrow, there is a very serious matter to be considered by Parliament, one where the sides don’t see eye to eye with one another just as on the issue of E-levy.”

“Now, they are saying, we should wait for the Speaker to come back before the E-levy hearing will be heard. This is a serious matter on the table and needs to be considered as soon as possible but because of the speaker’s absence, we have to wait. I will entreat the Members of Parliament to call on the Speaker to resign if his health is not that good.” Mr. Duncan told Peace FM.

Do you agree with Kwamena Duncan?

Do you think he’s rather being insensitive to the Speaker of Parliament?

Do you think he’s just saying this because of the E-levy??

Please leave your thoughts and comments below.
