{"id":973835,"date":"2022-02-02T16:49:54","date_gmt":"2022-02-02T16:49:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/02\/02\/govt-gfa-battle-over-next-stars-coach\/"},"modified":"2022-02-02T16:49:54","modified_gmt":"2022-02-02T16:49:54","slug":"govt-gfa-battle-over-next-stars-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/02\/02\/govt-gfa-battle-over-next-stars-coach\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt, GFA &#8216;Battle&#8217; &#8230; Over Next Stars Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The government and the country\u2019s football governing body, Ghana Football Association (GFA) are divided over the appointment of next Black Stars coach.<\/p>\n<p>The senior national soccer team is without a coach after Serbian Milovan Rajevac was sacked a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>The expatriate supervised Ghana\u2019s worst AFCON performance yet, exiting prematurely at the group stage.<\/p>\n<p>The coach\u2019s departure has necessitated the need for a new coach to fill the void.<\/p>\n<p>It has emerged that Majority Leader in Parliament, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu, is rooting for the appointment of ex-Brighton manager Chris Hughton as the new Stars coach.<\/p>\n<p>To the lawmaker, the Irish tactician has what it takes to transform Ghana\u2019s \u2018average materials\u2019 into a good team, having done same with clubs in the English Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the GFA is reported to be interested in making Borussia Dortmund deputy trainer Otto Addo coach.<\/p>\n<p>He told Angel FM \u201cChris Hughton is a coach who knows how to build with average materials and that\u2019s Ghana\u2019s situation now. Our materials are not good so we need Chris to weld.
