Samuel Twumasi, a resident of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), had on the 12 of March 2021 sent to Ghana, a Toyota sedan vehicle to his only brother Collins Twumasi when Collins kept insulting his brother for abandoning him. You bring him something, something he can use and make a living out of, the mother of Collins and Samuel, said to Samuel Twumasi on 25 December 2020 before Samuel shipped the car to Ghana in 2021.

The car, fully paid for by Samuel, was cleared with funding he sent from Abu Dhabi before the car was able to be cleared from the Tema port on 22 May 2021. Collins after taking delivery of the car on 23 May 2021, voiced out to the mother of his intentions of using the car as private, but his mother, Martha Twumasi, forbid Collins from doing so and the car was finally converted into a taxi on 26 June 2021.

Collins after arguing over the usage of the car with his mother, finally agreed to be a taxi driver and started work on 29 June 2021 but little did Stephen and his mother Martha knew, Collins had a backup plan for the car. The car which was to be used to help Collins become independent was rather hijacked by Collins on 23 December 2021.

Collins on 22 December 2021 called his mother around Six in the evening and made her aware of a job he had secured with his taxi. I am going to drop someone in Kumasi so I won’t be coming home tonight. Do lock the gate before you sleep. It’s a dropping and the money is good, Collins said to his mother on 22 December 2021.

Collins did not have any customer on that 22 December but all was a plot he had conceived to hijack his own car. Collins called back his mother on the morning of 23 December and cried of the car been hijacked at Kumasi Pataase.

Stephen Twumasi, the elder brother of Collins Twumasi did not understand how the car could be stolen just like that when the GPS of the car, kept pointing to one location. Stephen Twumasi at the blank side of his brother Collins, made the mother Martha, trace the car following the GPS and fortunately for them, the car was located on 25 January 2022.

The car which was parked in a house in Kumasi Pataase, was confirmed to have been parked there when Collins confessed to his crimes this morning at the Tepa Divisional Police Command. Collins arrested on the complaint of her mother Martha, confessed that he had wanted his brother to send him another car so he could have used the first car as private while he kept the other car as a taxi.

The car was never stolen but you made everyone believe the car was stolen, CID Officer Ofori Ampomah of Tepa divisional police command questioned Collins this morning before pushing him behind bars. Collins is still at the Tepa Police station after his brother Stephen and mother Martha, denied bailing him out.

He is my son and very greedy, the cells will teach him a lesson. The mother, Martha stated after she refused to seek bail for Collins. Collins will be facing the Tepa District court on Wednesday for hijacking his car.
