Sulemana was born in Tuna, a small hamlet in the Savanna region.<\/p>\n
He joined the university of Ghana before moving to the University of Missouri in 2008 to pursue his studies and eventually a PhD in Economics. He returned to Ghana in 2014 to teach at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).<\/p>\n
“At GIMPA, there was no air conditioning in my office.” “I complained to everyone I could, and they thought having air conditioning in a lecturer’s office was a luxury,” he added.<\/p>\n
That pretty much sums up his dissatisfaction. He left GIMPA two years later for a position at the University of Ghana, where he stated things improved but not enough.<\/p>\n

“By the time I arrived in Legon, my monthly pay was less than $5,000.” “This implies I made a lot more money as a graduate student in the United States than I did as a full-time instructor in Ghana,” he explained.<\/p>\n
He left the University of Ghana after only two years and returned to the United States to work as a banker.<\/p>\n

University professors, like Dr. Sulemaana, continue to leave in droves. Many others, like Dr. Annor, are simply biding their time till their turn comes.<\/p>\n
“If we could just make workers’ lives a little simpler.” Just a smidgeon. That way, we could tackle a lot of problems in our country,” adds Dr. Sulemaana.<\/p>\n
