According to Ken Ofori Atta, the E-levy would apply to electronic transaction like mobile money payments, bank transfers, merchant payments, and inward remittances.<\/p>\n<p>Since its announcement by the Finance Minister last year 2021, the e-levy has divided Ghanaians; causing brawl among parliamentarians in Parliament, and creating heated debated in Ghana and on Social media.<\/p>\n<p>In attempts to educate and convince Ghanaians; and also to explain the importance of the well talked about E-levy, the Government of Ghana, led by the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is organizing town hall meetings.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/371450fcea8248939c16d32d0ddbaa90\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s town hall meeting which took place at Koforidua in the Eastern Region, featured Mr. Ken Ofori Atta-Minister for Finance, Madam Ursula Owusu-Ekuful-Minister for Communication and Digitization, Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah-Minister for Information, and the Deputy Majority Leader i Parliament, Honorable Alexander Afenyo-Markin.<\/p>\n<p>Ken Ofori-Atta, Madam Ursula Owusu-Ekuful and Alexander Afenyo-Markin during their presentations at the meeting explained the various benefits of the e-levy and why Ghanaians must accept it.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/ecaa268dc75e41e09617c40e0ea85721\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The fact of the matter is, the ordinary Ghanaian is NOT bothered about the full details or any further education on the e-levy&#8230;we already know much. The ordinary Ghanaian is already paying too many taxes and wouldn&#8217;t want to pay new ones, especially from their mobile money wallets.<\/p>\n<p>We still remember what President Nana Addo and Bawaumia told Ghanaians, when they needed power; they told us, that when Ghanaians vote for them, they would move the country from &#8216;taxation to production&#8217;.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We also remember when they told us, when they needed power, that the NDC Mahama administration had burdened Ghanaians with too many taxes, and that &#8216;taxation is a lazy man&#8217;s approach&#8217;!\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What has changed now? We still have too many taxes&#8230;why is the Nana Addo Bawumia Government trying to introduce E-levy? Is the E-levy not a tax?<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/51c1a1c6c5b0423a841049eec78f78b0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In simple term, we dont want any e-levy&#8230;we simply dont want to pay any tax on our mobile money transactions.
