It is expected to be a feisty start as the Majority and Minority sides of Parliament have disagreed vehemently over the passage of the E-levy. This led to fisticuffs last year and many expect more drama this year. Already tensions are rising between the two sides after the Minority Leader noted that the E-Levy has been passed in advance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/7bc98756717243d2ac1fff802e69efa7\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Haruna Iddrisu, the Minority Leader joined Johnny Hughes on New Day to discuss what Ghanaians are to expect in Parliament in the coming days. The conversation started with why the government is insistent on the E-levy. According to Haruna Iddrisu, the E-levy is unwarranted. He queried a number of projects that have seen huge funds and nothing has come out of it. He raised issues as why government has not provided the actual costing of the NIA in facilitating the Ghana Card registration.<\/p>\n<p>He called on the government to do the needful and bring out the actual cost. He explained that with the data accumulated by the NIA, there was no need for Ghanaians to be made to go leave their jobs and go register. He explained that in other countries when even a person is arrested his history is provided and read to him few minutes after he is apprehended. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/81471447107c4533b0afed8f0edea81e\"\/><\/p>\n<p>This got Johnnie asking why the government cannot share data accumulated by the NIA and give to the mobile networks. This question was unanswered as Haruna Iddrisu sought to talk about the E-levy rather. This got Johnnie referring back to the question as to why governemt isn\u2019t sharing and making the process cumbersome. Haruna Iddrisu then replied that, I can\u2019t answer that.
