We have bike traffic jams<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/9ebb0b776e404878a529331e252ac9c6.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>3. You may have seen our Prime Minister and his\u00a0<em>\u2018Beast<\/em>\u2019 in the news<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/e945ced7921742db8c911efc7ad3e3a6.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>4. If you have a newborn child, you\u2019re expected to serve\u00a0<strong><em>beschuit met muisjes\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>(biscuit rusk) to friends and family; pink if it is a girl, blue if it is a boy. However, I expect this tradition won\u2019t survive the next wave of SJW-craziness where someone will say it is sexist.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/a1be8e23f5aa4b8bbb38864a80ea2ed3.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>5. We have cycling superhighways<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/61224ccce5f3448d850f3d7cb1885995.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>6. We have a lot of special highway crossings for wildlife called\u00a0<strong><em>ecoducts<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>(granted, various other countries such as Germany are also building these)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/4329e7eaf6364dd0b55b5897b755b5bd.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>7. There\u2019s an expression called\u00a0<strong><em>Going Dutch,<\/em><\/strong>which means you split the bill when you\u2019re in a restaurant with a group of friends. We always do this. Always.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/af0227e05a234fe085a05b141a143600.gif\"\/><\/p>\n<p>8. Most of the Dutch dishes include potatoes, and we like to\u00a0<em>grind<\/em>\u00a0(Dutch: prakken) our food. Absolute madness.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/75e0929bf68e458baaa958e0207e63d6.jpeg\"\/><\/p>\n<p>9. Most soft-drugs are legal here and no one will care if you smoke weed publicly or go to the Red Light district in Amsterdam. Having said that, it\u2019s mostly tourists who do this, and most Dutch people stay out of it.<\/p>\n<p>10. Being blunt and direct is considered normal here. People will see it as rude if you hide the truth from them.
