The Ghanaian freelance journalist, Mr. Manasseh Azure has also reacted to the recent talk regarding the removal of soldiers, from the office of the Speaker of Parliament.<\/p>\n

According to Manasseh Azure, he saw a letter withdrawing some four military men who were part of the Speaker of Parliament\u2019s security detail hit the internet. The letter was signed by the Chief of Staff of the Ghana Armed Forces, Major General N.P Andoh, and the withdrawal was to take effect from January 14, 2022″.<\/p>\n
He added that, the first time he (Manasseh Azure) read the letter, the first question that came to his mind, was whether the presence of the soldiers in the Speaker\u2019s security detail, could not make it possible for the so-called regularization of their attachment to continue, and asking Why would the military withdraw them when it was not, in principle, against their attachment”?<\/p>\n
“When the public reacted, the Ministry of National Security released a statement, and stated that, \u201cpersonnel of the Ghana Armed Forces do not form part of the security detail for the Speaker of Parliament; as the Parliamentary security support is to be provided by the Ghana Police Service\u201d, Mr. Awuni added,<\/p>\n
Mr. Awuni, who once worked with Multimedia Group Limited in Accra, further stated that, “The contents of the Ghana Armed Forces letter, and the press statement from the Ministry of National Security, exposed the disingenuous nature of the withdrawal of the soldiers. The military said they were being withdrawn so that their attachment could be regularize, but the ministry said they were not supposed to be there in the first place”.<\/p>\n

“Who do we believe? Would the regularization happen or not” …he asked.<\/p>\n
Suspecting some foul play, Manasseh Azure further explained that, “What we know is that the Speaker of Parliament, Alban S.K. Bagbin is a member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). What we also know is that Mr. Bagbin is making the work of the government difficult in parliament. Critics say this is the most vindictive administration of the Fourth Republic”.<\/p>\n

According to him, It is safe to conclude that, someone is being remind that, there is a greater power than the Office of the Speaker…and also, someone is being reminded that, many more privileges could be caused to erode from office of the Speaker.<\/p>\n
“If that wasn\u2019t the case, why would the office of a deputy minister or chairperson of the Electoral Commission deserve military attachment, while the Office of the Speaker, who is third after the president and vice-president, doesn\u2019t? and would the military attachment have been withdrawn if Bagbin had been an NPP Speaker of Parliament”, he asked.<\/p>\n

On January 14, 2021, four Military personnel who were attached to the Office of the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, were\u00a0withdrawn by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).\u00a0<\/p>\n
In a statement release from the Office of the Chief Of Staff ,of the Ghana Armed Forces, \u201cThe military personnel were attached to the Office of the Rt Honorable Speaker of Parliament without the proper procedure\u201d .<\/p>\n
According to the military, the withdrawal was to allow the Ghana Armed Forces, to properly regularized the attachment of the soldiers to the Speaker’s Office.<\/p>\n
