{"id":756282,"date":"2022-01-19T01:51:03","date_gmt":"2022-01-19T01:51:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/19\/2021-afcon-we-were-not-good-enough-to-win-the-title\/"},"modified":"2022-01-19T01:51:03","modified_gmt":"2022-01-19T01:51:03","slug":"2021-afcon-we-were-not-good-enough-to-win-the-title","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/19\/2021-afcon-we-were-not-good-enough-to-win-the-title\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 AFCON: We were not good enough to win the title"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"418\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/1633777603_561_Jordan-Ayew-Ghana-vs-Benin-696x418.jpg\"   alt=\"Jordan Ayew\" title=\"Jordan Ayew\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Jordan Ayew<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Ghana striker, Jordan Ayew, has admitted that Black Stars were not good enough to compete for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON].<\/p>\n<p>The Black Stars, after opening their campaign with a defeat against Morocco and a draw against Gabon, were hoping to pick their first three points of the tournament against Comoros.<\/p>\n<p>However, after 90 minutes of action, Ghana were beaten 3-2 by the tiny island nation.<\/p>\n<p>The defeat means\u00a0Ghana exited the tournament without a win and finished 4th in Group C with just a point.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the game, Jordan admitted that the entire team was not good enough to compete for the title.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe were not good enough,\u201d the former Crystal Palace forward said after the defeat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a young squad but this is\u00a0a wake-up call for everyone and if we don\u2019t learn from this then I don\u2019t know what will happen,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>El Fardou Ben Mohamed scored Comoros\u2019 first ever goal at the continental finals before Ahmed Mogni added a second just past the hour-mark.
