On the surface, Sandra Stachowicz appeared to have a full and happy life \u2013 gainfully employed as a book publicist and author in Edinburgh, she was\u00a0engaged\u00a0to be\u00a0married\u00a0to her partner of nearly nine years.<\/p>\n
However, underneath all her personal successes, the 35-year-old felt that \u201csomething was missing\u201d.<\/p>\n
Her feelings came to a head in spectacular fashion after she and her business partner launched their first erotica series, entitled \u2018Rebel Romance: 15 Stories Of Unconventional Taboo And Wild Romance\u2019.<\/p>\n
One of the contributing authors had penned a story that stirred a distant yet very fond memory in Sandra, with the book detailing a raunchy real-life tale about the writer\u2019s\u00a0love\u00a0affair with a Colombian man.<\/p>\n This steamy story brought back echoes of Sandra\u2019s very first\u00a0boyfriend,\u00a0a Colombian man she\u2019d\u00a0dated\u00a0for four months back when she was a 22-year-old Erasmus exchange student.<\/p>\n Sandra, who is originally from Poland, first locked eyes with Juan Carlos Montoya Gomez while studying translation in Barcelona. Although their romance didn\u2019t last all that long, Juan left a lasting impression on Sandra.<\/p>\n She recalled: \u201cHe was attentive, caring and would often make out of his way to make me happy, such as buy me drops when my eyes were red after a sleepless night, buy me a purse when I routinely carried spare change in a glasses case instead, sweaters when I was cold, or Alka-Seltzer when I was hungover after a night out\u201d.<\/p>\n They\u2019d tried to get back in touch over the years that followed, but, as is life, nothing ever quite worked out.<\/p>\n However, looking back on old photographs of herself during her time with Juan, Sandra was struck by how she appeared to be \u201cradiant, loved up and just full of joy\u201d, remarking, \u201cthe spark in my eyes says it all\u201d.<\/p>\n With this old flame ignited once more, Sandra wasn\u2019t able to stop thinking about Juan and even began having \u201cprecognitive dreams\u201d or \u201cpremonitions\u201d about him. For Sandra, this was significant as she rarely remembered her dreams unless they held an \u201cimportant message\u201d for her.<\/p>\n Sandra explained: \u201cIn one of the dreams he proposed to me, something that I later shared with him. Juan Carlos\u2019s reaction was priceless. In one of the subsequent dreams, I saw us living together. My precognitive dreams gave me the much-needed courage and a second chance at love\u201d.<\/p>\n Sandra\u2019s nighttime premonitions have previously proven to be startlingly accurate. When she was just 15 years old, she dreamt that her father would die in a car and just a few days later, he tragically passed away from a heart attack. He\u2019d been inside a friend\u2019s vehicle at the time.<\/p>\n \u201cOver the years, I had precognitive dreams about friends and family members, some of which I haven\u2019t seen for years, all of which came to fruition,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n It\u2019s little wonder therefore that Sandra took her precognitive dreams seriously and with a little encouragement from her business partner, decided to reach out to Juan online back in October.<\/p>\n Sandra initially hesitated before hitting \u2018send\u2019 on her first message but, much to her surprise, she received a response from Juan \u201cwithin seconds\u201d. It wasn\u2019t long at all until the pair were enjoying a catch-up call on\u00a0Whatsapp\u00a0and Sandra realized exactly what had been missing in her life for so long.<\/p>\n \u201cIn hindsight, after being together for almost nine years with my former fianc\u00e9, I realized I became the person I didn\u2019t like\u201d, admitted Sandra. \u201cI have changed in ways I couldn\u2019t reconcile. I became a shadow of my former self and lost the spark for life\u201d.<\/p>\n Recalling their very first video chat, Sandra revealed that she \u201cfelt like a high school girl who had a secret crush on her much older geography teacher\u201d, remembering how she \u201cfidgeted in my office chair and turned all red\u201d.<\/p>\n Interestingly, despite her understandable nerves, Sandra realized that she and Juan had \u201ca lot more in common\u201d 12 years on, with both being business owners with \u201ca similar view on life\u201d.<\/p>\n Sandra had already \u201cbeen toying with the idea\u201d of ending her relationship \u201cfor quite some time\u201d, having sadly realized that they \u201cwere just a mismatch in terms of values and our vision and plan for life\u201d.<\/p>\n Being the sort of person \u201cto burn all the bridges behind me without looking back\u201d with \u201cno half measures\u201d, a newly determined Sandra decided to leave Edinburgh and her fianc\u00e9 behind, opting for a second chance of love with Juan.<\/p>\n In what must surely be one of the most drastic New Year\u2019s resolutions of all time, Sandra booked a one-way plane ticket to Colombia to be with Juan, travelling 5,212 miles away from the city she\u2019s lived in for the majority of her adult life.<\/p>\n The reconciled lovers won\u2019t meet again until 28th January, when Sandra arrives in the Colombian capital city of Bogot\u00e1. Although her friends and family members know about her shock move, only her younger sister Marta knows the full story and motivation.<\/p>\n Sandra, who is keeping the romantic details private from her loved ones until she lands, has said that her choice, unfortunately, hasn\u2019t yet registered with her fianc\u00e9, who still believes her stay in Colombia to be \u201cjust a short holiday break\u201d.<\/p>\n However, Sandra appears to have no regrets, adding: \u201cI am happy with my decision. I believe everything happens for a reason. Some love stories take a little longer to percolate.
