Some men want their women thick and plus sized as they come,naturally endowed women from \u2018front and back\u2019 are beautiful,intelligent,hardworking,caring, kind and ambitious.<\/span> These women are special as they go through various struggles in their daily activities and an in-depth discussion with some of them revealed a lot.<\/span><\/p>\n Nana Akua,Francesca and Maame Mansa shared various struggles plus size or thick women go through in the country.<\/span><\/p>\n Stigmatization and Body Shaming <\/span><\/p>\n Nana Akua,a self employed beautiful thick plus size woman living in Accra spoke about confidence and how a thick woman feels about herself as a key issue.<\/span><\/p>\n In our discussion she said \u201cit was very hard when I was young,i remember being the target for jokes and even some of my classmates didn\u2019t want to sit with me or play with me.<\/span><\/p>\n The commonly use derogatory expressions \u201cObolo\u201d(chubby) tagline was always tough to deal with when society label you as that.<\/span><\/p>\n I almost cried everyday and it was worse when my parents jokingly mention food and my name in the same sentence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Some people believe making plus size women feel ashamed of their weight or eating habits may motivate them to get healthier.<\/span><\/p>\n However, stigma and discrimination against thick women cause major psychological harm and worsen the problem.<\/span><\/p>\n These women tends to be depressed causing serious psychological health problems which results in they binge eating and being obese.<\/span><\/p>\n Numerous studies have documented harmful weight-based stereotypes that thick and plus size individuals are lazy, weak-willed, unsuccessful, unintelligent, lack self-discipline, have poor willpower, and are noncompliant with weight-loss treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n These stereotypes give way to stigma, prejudice, and discrimination against thick women in multiple domains of living, the workplace, health care facilities, educational institutions, the mass media, and even in close interpersonal relationships.<\/span><\/p>\n Perhaps because weight stigma remains a socially acceptable form of bias, negative attitudes and stereotypes toward obese persons have been frequently reported by employers, coworkers, teachers, physicians, nurses, medical students, dietitians, psychologists, peers, friends, family members and even among children aged as young as 3 years.<\/span><\/p>\n Exploitation <\/span><\/p>\n Francesca, a thick beautiful curvaceous Nurse also described what thick women go through as people exploit and take advantage of them.<\/span><\/p>\n She said \u201cI have been in numerous relationships and guys initially claim how they are into thick women.<\/span><\/p>\n Not all guys but most see thick women as a fantasy,something for the exterior qualities,the \u201chuge things front and back\u201dwhich is pure lust.<\/span><\/p>\n She continued \u201cthey tell you all sort of things and forget our needs,I must say they exploit us,get what they want and leave you hanging.<\/span><\/p>\n Some men appreciate us and others just want to use as to satisfy their manly ego.Can\u2019t even count the number of heart breaks,emotional and psychological stress I have gone through\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n Pressure <\/span><\/p>\n Maame Mansa,a busty and curvaceous Banker also described her daily struggles.<\/span><\/p>\n She said\u201dI don\u2019t care about how I look as I have embraced my personality,I train daily for my cardio,eat well and have enough sleep but maybe it\u2019s because of my genetics i have always weighed the same kg.<\/span><\/p>\n I love my body and don\u2019t care about how people see me,my problem is the struggle with getting the right fit of cloths.<\/span><\/p>\n You see a nice dress in a boutique but you can\u2019t get the right fit,you send a design to your fashion designer and she wants to over-charge you.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n She continued \u201cthe worst part of it is your family and friends pushing expensive \u201cSlim Tea\u201d in your throat.<\/span><\/p>\n Boarding a plane also comes with that sharp stare as if you are a terrorist,you walk into a room and the whole place is quite as if they just saw a ghost,all these have phycological effects on you.I must say being a plus size woman in Ghana is expensive\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n These three woman have all embraced who they are and are fabulously confident in their personality,they push themselves by going to the gym,eating healthy and having enough sleep for the health benefits that comes with it and not because society is pressuring them to.<\/span><\/p>\n Please share your view about what you think these woman go through.<\/span><\/p>\n Please don\u2019t forget to Follow Like Comment Share.<\/span><\/p>\n Content created and supplied by: KingtsugiNews (via Opera \n , . , .
